The Union Pacific steam locomotive #4014, known as a “Big Boy”, is one of the largest engines ever built, weighing over one million pounds. This photograph was made as the train travelled on its 150th anniversary tour in the “Great Race Across the southwest”. It was originally delivered in December 1941 and was retired in 1961, having traveled 1,031,205 miles in its 20 years of service.
