The Ouachita National Forest is the oldest National Forest in the southern United States and it encompasses nearly 1.8 million acres, including most of the scenic Ouachita Mountain Range. Ouachita is the French spelling of the Indian word Washita, which means "good hunting grounds". This image was captured from atop the Talimena Scenic Byway which runs for 54 miles from Talihina, Oklahoma, to Mena, Arkansas.
