This bronze statue of General William Darby, created by sculptor Kevin Kresse, stands in downtown Fort Smith, Arkansas. Darby grew up in Fort Smith and became famous as founder of “Darby’s Rangers” during World War II. This highly decorated hero was killed by an artillery round in northern Italy in 1945.

James Barber currently resides in northwestern Arkansas, the Natural State.
